Procedure for underground water tank waterproofing

  • Chipping of all uneven surfaces to make the surface smooth.
  • Grinding the surface to make it free of any undulations and preparing the surface for waterproofing.
  • Haunching the bottom of the tank with a repair mortar.
  • Negative pressure grouting – Drilling holes with a spacing of 1mtr between each hole, to form a grid system . The spacing will differ based on structure conditions.
  • Inserting sockets and packing them with a special mortar system.
  • Negative pressure grouting using a cementitious grout and a high-pressure grouting machine.
  • On completion of negative pressure grouting apply the first coat of a suitable waterproofing compound and allow it to dry.
  • Applying two more coats of a suitable waterproofing compound and allowing it to dry.
  • Once the coat is dry, a smooth coat of food-grade solvent-free epoxy is applied.
  • Ponding the underground water tank for a period of seventy-two hours to check for any leakages.
